PADI DiveMaster Course

The PADI Divemaster course is the first level of professional training. From this course you will gain dive knowledge, management and supervision abilities, so that you can become a role model to other divers everywhere in the world.

During the Divemaster course you will learn to lead, as you supervise scuba diving activities and assist with diver training. You will be working closely together with our experienced PADI Instructors, who will help you to become a great divemaster and fine-tune your dive skills. You will be perfecting the effortless buoyancy skills and refine your rescue skills so that you can anticipate and easily solve common problems both above and under water.

You will also be guiding fun divers under the supervision of your PADI instructors and having a lot of fun while doing some great diving with your new friends.

During the PADI Divemaster course you learn how to be a leader and take charge of the dive activities. You will develop skills to organize and conduct a variety of scuba diving activities through the knowledge development sessions, water-skills exercises, workshops and hands-on practical assessment.

Topics and practical workshops include: The role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster, supervising dive activities and assisting with student divers, diver safety and risk management, divemaster conducted programs and specialized skills, business of diving and your career, awareness of the dive environment, dive setup and management, mapping an open water site, conducting dive briefings, organizing a search and recovery project and a deep dive, conducting a scuba review and skin diver course, assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programs.

As a future dive professional you will want to have all your own basic scuba equipment, including a dive computer, a dive knife, mask, and surface signaling devices.

You will also learn how to use special dive equipment, for example during the practical skill exercises, for underwater mapping and search and recovery. The equipment used for these dives, on top of basic scuba equipment, will be a compass, floats, marker buoys, lift bags and slates.

If you are at least 18 years old and a PADI Rescue Diver with at least 40 logged dives, you may enroll in the PADI Divemaster course. You also need to have completed your Emergency First Response training within the past 24 months or have a proof of CPR and First Aid training form any other internationally recognized organization and a medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
